How we collect, use, and store the personal data you share with us.

Who we are
CG Electrical Essex Limited (“we”, “our”, “us”). Registered in England & Wales, Company No. 14630792. Registered office: 17 Snowdrop Close, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 6XD.
What data we collect
When you contact us through the website, by phone, by email, or via WhatsApp, we collect your name, contact details, postcode, and the details of the enquiry you send us.
How we use it
We use your details only to respond to your enquiry, quote for and carry out the work you’ve asked us to do, and issue any certificates required. We do not share your details with third parties for marketing, ever.
Legal basis (UK GDPR Article 6)
We rely on the following lawful bases for processing your personal data:
- Legitimate interest. When you first get in touch, so we can reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- Contract. Once we’ve agreed on work, to plan, carry out, and invoice for the job.
- Legal obligation. To keep records of completed work for the seven years required by UK tax law, and to issue any electrical certificates required by Part P and BS 7671.
Where your data goes
Your data is stored and processed by a small number of trusted providers needed to run the website and the business:
- SiteGround. UK/EU-hosted web hosting and email forwarding for our domain.
- Google. Google Business Profile (for the customer reviews shown on the site) and Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form (see below).
- Plausible Analytics. Privacy-friendly, EU-hosted site statistics. Plausible uses no cookies and collects no personal information; we only ever see aggregated, anonymous numbers.
- Email. Contact-form submissions are sent by email to info@cgelectricalessex.co.uk. The website itself does not store your submission.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third party.
Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA)
Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v2 (the “I’m not a robot” checkbox) to stop automated spam. When you use the contact page, reCAPTCHA sets Google cookies and collects information about your device and browser, which is sent to Google to tell real visitors apart from bots. This relies on our legitimate interest in protecting the form from abuse. Google handles this data as a separate controller under its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The form also uses a hidden honeypot field and a timing check, neither of which involves any third party.
How long we keep it
For active enquiries: as long as needed to respond. For completed work: seven years, as required by UK tax law and to support warranty claims. After that we securely delete records that no longer have a legal basis to be kept.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (subject to our legal retention obligations), or ask us to provide a copy of it. Email info@cgelectricalessex.co.uk to make a request. We’ll respond within one calendar month.
ICO registration
CG Electrical Essex Limited is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under the UK data protection fee scheme. Our registration details can be verified on the ICO’s public register at ico.org.uk/ESDWebPages/Search.
Complaints
If you think we’ve mishandled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
