EV Charger Installation in Essex.

OZEV-approved 7kW home chargers. Load tested, properly bonded, commissioned and certified. Usually a one-day job once your charger is on site.

What’s involved

A typical home EV charger install includes a site survey (often by phone with a few photos), the cable run from your consumer unit to the charging point, an earthing review, surge protection if needed, and full commissioning to OZEV and 18th Edition standards. You get a Part P notification and an electrical installation certificate the same day.

How long it takes

Most installs take 4 to 6 hours from arrival to certified. Trickier routes (long cable runs, unboarded loft work, three-phase upgrades) can stretch to a full day. We’ll tell you up front if your job is one of the trickier ones.

How we quote

Cost depends on the charger model, the length of the cable run, and any additional work needed (a consumer-unit upgrade, earthing improvements, surge protection). We quote fixed-price in writing within 24 hours of seeing your job, with no extras on the day.

What you get

  • OZEV-approved charger fully installed and commissioned.
  • Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) issued on completion.
  • Part P notification to building control.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty on the unit (typically 3 years), plus our 5-year labour guarantee.
  • A two-minute walk-through of the app and how to use it day-to-day.

Equipment we install

We install all major OZEV-approved brands: Ohme, Hypervolt, Andersen, Pod Point, Easee, Wallbox. Happy to recommend based on your car, your driveway, and what you actually want from the app. No tied-in deals with any one manufacturer.

Frequently asked

Do I need a charger upgrade for an electric car?

Yes, in practice. Three-pin charging from a standard socket adds about 8 to 10 miles per hour of charging and is not safe long-term. A dedicated 7kW charger adds around 25 to 30 miles per hour and is much safer.

What about three-phase or 22kW chargers?

Most UK homes are single-phase, where 7kW is the maximum. Properties with three-phase supply can fit 22kW chargers (and the cars to use them). We’ll check your supply during the survey.

Will I need to upgrade my consumer unit?

Sometimes. We’ll check during the survey. If an upgrade is needed we’ll quote both jobs together and you can decide.

Do I qualify for any grants?

The OZEV grant scheme is more limited than it used to be but still available for some flat-dwellers and landlords. We’ll tell you what you might qualify for.
