Full & Partial Rewires in Essex.

Older properties, extensions, full-house rewires. Chased, part, or surface, planned around your home so the disruption is over as fast as possible. Certified on completion, every cable in the right place.

What’s involved

A typical chased rewire means: lifting selected floorboards, chasing channels into walls for new cable runs, fitting new sockets, switches, and lighting points, installing a modern consumer unit with full RCD/RCBO protection, bonding the gas and water, then commissioning and certifying the whole installation.

We use chasing hoovers that catch the dust at source. Dust sheets down before tools come out, floors back the way we found them.

Three ways we can do it:

  • Chased rewire: cables hidden in the walls and floors. The standard finish, looks like nothing happened (after the plasterer’s been). Best when the house is empty.
  • Part rewire: only the circuits that need it. Common when, say, the upstairs lighting is on rubber cable but the ground floor was redone in 2010. Saves time and money where it makes sense.
  • Surface rewire: cables in square trunking on the wall. Faster, no redecoration needed. The right call if you’re staying in the property while it’s done, or for outbuildings and rentals where the look matters less.

How long it takes

A typical 3-bed semi is 5 to 10 working days for the full electrical work, then making-good and decorating on top of that. Larger properties, lath-and-plaster walls, or solid concrete floors push the timeline up. We’ll give you a written start and finish date with the quote, and stick to it.

How we quote

Every rewire is different: size of the property, age, condition of existing wiring, chased versus surface, how much making-good you want us to handle. After a site visit or a video walk-through plus photos, you get a fixed-price quote in writing within 24 hours. No extras on the day.

What you get

  • New consumer unit with full RCD/RCBO protection (18th Edition compliant).
  • All old cabling removed or fully isolated and de-energised.
  • Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) issued on completion.
  • Part P notification to building control.
  • 5-year labour guarantee from a NICEIC Registered installer.
  • A property your mortgage adviser, conveyancer, and home insurer will be happy with.

Frequently asked

Do I have to move out for a rewire?

For a full chased rewire the property really should be empty, it’s noisy, dusty, and the floors come up. If you need to stay in the property, a surface rewire using square trunking keeps the mess and disruption to a minimum.

How long does a rewire take?

A typical 3-bed semi rewire is 5 to 10 working days. Larger properties or anything with lath-and-plaster walls or solid floors will take longer. We give you a written timeline with the quote.

Will my home be left in a mess?

No. We use chasing hoovers that catch the dust at source, dust sheets go down before tools come out, and we put everything back the way we found it. You’ll have making-good (filling chases, replacing floorboards), and Connor will discuss whether you want us to do that or hire it out.

Will I get certificates afterwards?

Yes. You get an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) on completion and we notify building control under Part P. Keep the EIC with your house papers, buyers and conveyancers will ask for it.

Can you do a part rewire?

Yes, often. A part rewire makes sense when only certain circuits are tired (e.g. an old kitchen ring or upstairs lighting on rubber-sheathed cable). We’ll inspect, tell you honestly what needs doing now versus later, and quote both options.
